PartyMarkets
PartyMarkets is the latest addition to the Group's portfolio and was launched in July 2008. Borne out of an exclusive alliance between PartyGaming and City Index, PartyMarkets is developing a platform to provide customers in the UK, Europe and Asia with access to financial markets across the globe through which they can trade CFDs (Contracts for Difference). Additionally, UK residents also have access to financial spread betting. City Index is one of the world’s leading providers of retail derivative trading through CFDs, foreign exchange, options and, in the UK, spread betting.
Both CFDs and spread bets allow customers to back a judgement on the movements of global financial markets. Common elements of both forms of trades are:
- You don’t own the asset you’re trading on – you’re simply speculating on whether it will change in value and by how much
- You trade on margin, which means you’ll get the full exposure to any market movement for a fraction of the outlay of taking a position in the underlying asset
- You can bet or trade on both rises and falls in the value of an asset
It is important to understand that spread bets and CFDs are leveraged products which involve a capital risk, and are not suitable for everyone. Losses can quickly exceed initial deposits, and it is important to understand the risks involved. PartyMarkets is regulated by the Financial Services Authority in the UK.
